Anywhere, anytime, the 4-D flies when all your other kites are on the ground. It's light. Just 70 grams. Light enough to fly by walking backwards in the barest breeze, or even indoors. The wing is nicely balanced for graceful freestyle flying and remains buoyant in fluky wind. It floats on the breeze with precision and balance, with fingertip control that’s guaranteed to refine your flying style.

Got some wind? No problem. The 4-D is super light, but not super fragile and it's as happy to fly in 10 mph as it is in 0. It has a high-modulus solid carbon frame that you can practically tie in a knot without breaking. The sail is made with ultralight polyester and lightweight Mylar laminate. Limiters on the bridle prevent over- or under- tuning the kite for the wind so you don't miss the sweet spot. The frame breaks down to 23" and comes in a sweet padded case. Comes with a 50# x 50ft Dyneema lineset, the perfect weight and length for optimal response and limited drag. If you like to fly inside, there's room in the case for a second, shorter lineset so you can hone your skills on those dark winter days.

Very lightweight, but poor build quality

Sadly, this review is not going to be as positive as I had hoped it would be. The saving grace is that there's only one problem, and it can be fixed, but it does rather spoil the enjoyment of having a kit for low to no wind.

In that regard it does exactly what it says on the tin: it is ideal for zero wind conditions. It's a little twitchy, but that in itself can be fun, however, the enjoyment is typically momentary. Any sign of more than zero wind, or any control input of more than the absolute minimum required, means that main spreaders pop out of the central ferule and the kite falls out of the sky.

Essentially, the tolerances for the parts are too loose, and the ferule has no purchase on the end of the spreaders once they're inserted. Hence they are very loose at outset, and pop out at the slightest provocation.

That shouldn't stop you buying the kite though, as once fixed it's a fun kite that will get you flying when nothing else will. But it is rather disappointing that it shipped in that condition.

    Favorite kite

Exactly as described! Lightweight and fun to fly. I recommend getting a 2nd shorter line set for zero wind days. The throwback color way looks killer against the sky too.

    Leading edge nock pieces

Great low to no wind kite. The leading edge nock piece broke the second time I flew. Also, the lower spreader comes loose much too easy
