The Tantrum 220 is smaller than the 250, making it speedier with less pull. It’s perfect for smaller pilots or stronger winds.
The bigger Tantrum 250 pulls harder with a little less speed. It’s great for heavier pilots and flies more easily in lighter winds. It also turns a little slower, giving you more time to react and fly precisely.
Be sure to use the included safety leash: If things get too wild just let go of the bar. The kite will depower and settle safely to the ground while still tethered to your wrist.
Both sizes deliver solid pull in moderate to strong winds but still fly easily in light to moderate winds. They come ready to fly with Dyneema lines pre-attached, control bar with safety leash, travel bag and Instructions. Just unfold the sail, unwind the lines and get ready to hang on!

Put on a 20 ft tube tail on because it was pretty windy. Lots of power. Flew really well!
But: it took me maybe 15 minutes to unwind the kite line straight out of the bag for very 1st flight. Had to be 70 or more windings of kite line i had to unwind before launching kite.
I have many kites and this one is definitely my favorite. It’s always fun to fly around and never gets old. Only downside is that it’s hard to launch by yourself on a windier day. Aside from that once you can get it up this kite is a blast.
I’ve had my Tantrum 220 for a couple of years now and have flown it in many locations across North Carolina from the mountains to the Piedmont and multiple coastal spots. What’s great about this kite is the balance it provides between speed and power, which makes it loads of fun to fly. Winds 14-18 mph provide lots of maneuverability and fun. Easy to cary around and a breeze to deploy. I carry a set of ankle weights to lay on the kite when launching.
For the price you are getting a ton of fun and a quality product. I’ve had mine for six years with heavy use and only recently did it show signs of wear. It’s very intuitive to learn and get the hang of. I’ve really enjoyed teaching my kids how to fly it
