Incredible spinning rotor kite

Flip the sail to start the rotor, then let the wind take it from there. The wing spins and the colors blur as it climbs into the sky. A kaleidoscope in motion, whirling in the wind.

Steve Wingert designed this extraordinary flying machine on the dunes where the Wright Brothers first flew. We thought it was so cool that everyone should have one. The Flip Kite gets its lift from the Magnus Effect, the same principle that makes baseballs curve and golf balls loft. The vertical ring acts as a gyroscope to hold it steady in gusty winds.

The Flip Kite comes with 200′ of flying line and flies best in moderate to strong winds. It folds flat with no assembly required. Just flip open the ring, tie on the line, and get ready to be amazed.

Super Wobbly and Fun to Fly

Thing bounces all over the place while it flies. Super fun to watch it spin in the sky. Hard to travel with. You have to toss it into the back of the car to travel with it. Kids love the thing.

    Maiden flight yesterday

Took this puppy out for a spin (pun intended) yesterday. Winds were ~10-15 mph. It was super easy to get in the air and cool to look at, esp when standing right under it. Couple other kites around us, one (a paraglider couldn't stay up, one (kinda toyish kite) had a hard time catching wind). Ours was simple to get in the air (longest took maybe 1 minute) and we put it up and took it down 4 times. It's small but it works great.

    Good size walleye

Feels like you’re fighting a fish! You’ll need extra wind because of design or not going to fly at all. Unique flyer indeed. Once up it’s a blast, fish on!

    Fun for high winds

The Flip Kite is one of my favorite single line kites, the spin is eye-catching and it helps prevent the kite from ever pulling too hard by spilling wind instead of holding onto it. However, this also means it requires higher winds to stay aloft (say, over 15mph). So in low winds it will not fly, but easy for kids to manage in high winds.
