What can you do with the power of the wind? The Mentor 2.5 and 3.5 deliver high performance power that’s easy to control and incredibly versatile. Pilot a kite buggy, a land board, a paddleboard, or just lay tracks on the beach with the soles of your feet. They’re a great intro to traction kiting without the complexity and expense of four line control.

With three-line control you can instantly stop the kite mid-flight, put it into reverse and fly it backwards. That makes for easy landings without a helper and a whole new range of maneuvers to explore.

Unlike traditional soft parafoils the Mentor wings maintain internal pressure for optimal 3D shape. At the leading edge of each rib, monofilament profile supports act like springs to maintain the shape of the leading edge for a clean, low-drag airfoil. And after launch the one-way valves at the air inlets allow ram air in but not out, keeping the sail from collapsing for smooth, forgiving control. When it’s time to pack up, open the velcro drain at the tail to let the air out so you can stuff it back into its sleeve.

If you’re flying near water the kite will happily float on water for a minute or more because the wing stays filled with air. That means you can fly (and crash) safely from narrow beaches where your wind window is over the water, plus enjoy body dragging, paddle boarding and all kinds of other kite-powered wet fun.

The third line with quick-release leash also provides a simple and effective safety system- just let go of the bar to instantly de-power if things get out of hand. The kite will settle to the ground while still tethered to your wrist so you don’t risk losing it downwind.

Both sizes come ready to fly with everything you need (except wind): low-stretch Dyneema lines, control bar and safety system, easy-to-pack compression bag, even a stainless ground stake to secure the rig when you need a break.

Choose the smaller Mentor 2.5 if you’re a lighter pilot, you fly more often in strong winds, or you enjoy control and maneuvering more than getting dragged around.

Choose the 3.5 for maximum pull and the ability to fly in slightly lighter wind. It’s perfect if you need some extra grunt but watch out: Even bigger pilots will get pulled down the beach with this one and it can be a handful when the wind comes up!

Mentor 2.5

I upgraded from my 9 year old Tantrum and I’m super happy I did. The third line makes relaunching routine, no more walk of shame to untangle after crashing. Way more power and speed in strong winds but still a lot of fun in lighter breezes.

The 2.5 Mentor is..........

I recently purchased this kite, and here's my honest review. I did my research and comparisons of all the power kites and trainers options out there, after weeks of kite forums and videos reviews, I chose the Prism Mentor 2.5 solely because first and foremost, I knew I could trust the quality construction of the materials used in Prism kites. I have purchased 4 other Prisms kites over the years. A Jazz & Nexus both are 10+ years old and holding up extremely well. Retainer fittings, wingtip nocks, sail material every thing on those kites are all still in good to excellent condition. I have only replaced one piece and it was a stay on my Nexus after many violent hard crashes. Another thing about buying from Prism is after 10 years I could still get parts easily. Now recently I have purchased 2 other Prism kites The Mentor 2.5 and the Hypnotist and honestly the quality is still just as good. So buy with confidence on the construction and materials used alone. Ok let's talk about the Mentor. I'm 165 lbs and this kite is powerful enough for some serious fun kite sessions. I have put it up 3 time now in different conditions. 5-10 steady and 10-15 with gusts to 20. Good speeds to get through the learning curve. Not going to lie but a 20 mph gusts will get your attention in a good way. I got lifted and got some little power jumps. So much fun and what a adrenaline rush, it's exactly what I wanted my power kite to be. You can fly nice and easy or fast and furious with a nice wind range of 4-25 mph. I want to get into kite boarding so using the Mentor as a trainer kite with the amphibious water launching capabilities is awesome. I also made the decision to go with this kite because of the instant Depower saftey line set up. A power kite with a 3 line control bar that has depower and a saftey leash is a huge plus. I wanted something to power fly and rip through the sky with confidence. I Love this kite 🪁 I'm going to be going to the International Kite Festival in Long Beach Washington next month with my Mentor to catch some big air in the sand. I will soon review my Hypnotist next after some more flights. Hope this helps you. 🪁 Fly High... Safe and Often. ✌️

Re-launch capability is a game changer

To be able to get your kite back up without needing assistance is truly a game changer. And to be able to do it off water is unreal. I love, love, love this foil kite. It just lives in the back of my 4runner because you never know when a breeze is gonna pick up and you'll want it with you. No frame to break so it's good for my teenage kids to learn on and I think it's a blast at the park or a beach. The funniest way to get a workout in, because it is a beast, it'll pull you around!
